Grain legumes have several agronomic, environmental and dietary benefits. Surprisingly, they play only a minor role in today’s farming systems as well in human nutrition in the EU. In fact, dry grain legumes represent only 2.1 % of arable land in the EU – but with an increasing trend.
The FH-SWF is a university of applied sciences located in North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. In the Department of Agriculture in Soest, we teach and research how to promote legume cultivation. We have been involved in several legume related projects at the national and european level.
