Innovation & Changemaking: Plant Breeding in SKUAST-Kashimir

The global bean meetings are back

We opened our Innovation & Changemaking series with an inspiring session on Farmer-Led Plant Breeding, led by Dr. Parvaze Sofi from SKUAST-Kashmir, India.

In this Global Bean Partner Meeting, Dr. Sofi shared how his team combines rigorous research with traditional knowledge, working from heirloom varieties and adapting crops to the challenges of climate change. Their approach puts farmers at the centre, ensuring new varieties respond directly to local needs.
